Michelle Wade, MA, LPC

Each struggle in life brings an opportunity to uncover conflicts and create healing with a deeper exploration in therapy.  I strive to create a safe, empathetic, and neutral environment so that my clients can be open and honest about their experiences and feelings.  My primary focus is to meet each client where they are in life and provide them with the support they need to find their own path to healing.   I have hope that healing can occur in everyone if they have the motivation and resources.   In sessions, I use creative arts, with a psychodynamic, integrative model with some  evidence based tools.  We explore patterns, beliefs, and get to the core so they can rebuild where the healing is needed. With children, I use play techniques and creative arts to help them express their emotions, thoughts, and questions more naturally.  I help clients journey through many symptoms such as anxiety, anger,  crisis management, depression, grief/loss, infertility, self-esteem, self injury, social skills, spirituality, and trauma. Together, we use insight, goals, and strengths to create a treatments plan.  We re-assess every few months to track progress.

Experience

Michelle received a MA Degree in Clinical Counseling from Eastern University.  She worked at Devereux Inpatient Hospital with children and adolescents.  Then, she conducted ABA therapy in homes and schools with children as young as 1 year old for the Lovaas Institute of Early Intervention.   After graduation, she started working as a Teaching Assistant for the Counseling Department at Eastern University.  In conjunction with that position, she worked at Lenape Valley Foundation as an Outpatient Therapist and Crisis Intervention Counselor for 10 years.  She learned a lot about high conflict cases through crisis and she became certified in anger management.    Michelle volunteered in South Africa working alongside kids orphaned by the AIDS pandemic--learning a new context of grief and loss   Then, she spent time working in wrap around (BHRS), as a Mobile Therapist and Behavior Specialist.   Later, she worked as an In-School Counselor for a few years with a Trauma Informed treatment model through Lakeside.   She is thankful for every opportunity and used them all to learn various new skills through the years.   Michelle took the best parts of each job into consideration to create her own counseling practice in 2014.   Michelle hopes to continue helping the community through Wisteria's expanding practice in 2023.
